Website terms
These terms cover your use of this website. They are separate from the engagement terms that apply once we are acting for you.
Using this site
You are welcome to read this site, print pages from it and share links to it. Please do not copy the content wholesale onto another website, present it as your own, or use it to build a competing service.
Content and ownership
The writing, layout and photography on this site belong to the firm, apart from the professional marks shown on it. The Law Institute of Victoria and Victoria Legal Aid marks belong to those organisations. We reproduce them unaltered, at their original proportions and without recolouring.
Accuracy
We try to keep this site accurate and current, and pages carrying legal content show when they were reviewed and by whom. We cannot promise that everything is complete or up to date at the moment you read it, and the law changes.
Availability
We do not promise the site will always be available or free of faults. It is not a way to reach us urgently. If something is urgent, call the office.
The contact form
Do not use the contact form to send documents, evidence or anything confidential. It is not built for that and does not accept attachments. Please also do not use it to send anything abusive, or to send automated or bulk submissions.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia. Any dispute about them goes to the courts of Victoria.
Liability
This website carries general information about family law. It is not legal advice, and reading it does not make us your lawyers. Every family is different and the outcome in one matter tells you very little about another, so please do not act, or decide not to act, on the strength of anything here without getting advice about your own circumstances.
So far as the law allows, we are not responsible for any loss arising out of your use of this site, or out of reliance on anything published on it.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right, remedy, guarantee, warranty or other term that the law does not permit us to exclude, restrict or modify. Where the law allows us to limit our liability rather than exclude it, our liability is limited to supplying the information again, or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version is the one on this page.
